APTA Board Certified Specialists
Clinical Excellence is one of Mountain Lands Core Values. Becoming a Board Certified Specialist is one of the ways that our therapists exemplify clinical excellence. Specialist certification, established by the American Physical Therapy Association, requires a broad base of professional experience, education, clinical knowledge, and skill related to a particular area of practice.
To become board certified, therapists must first qualify to sit for a specialist certification examination. Holding a current license, having a minimum of 2,000 clinical hours in the specialty area, and the approval of a council established by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialists are some of the eligibility requirements to take the test. Therapists must then pass the certification examination that tests knowledge and responsibilities in areas such as: Evaluation, Diagnosis, Prognosis, Intervention, Outcomes, Anatomy, Evidence Based Theory, and Movement Science.
