The new Mountain Land Physical Therapy clinic in Draper, Utah, previously South Mountain Physical Therapy, is conveniently located near 1300 East and Draper Parkway. Our Draper location provides comprehensive physical therapy and rehabilitation services to residents of Draper and surrounding communities including Sandy and Riverton.

Kevin L. Shepherd physical therapist

Kevin L. Shepherd, PT, DPT

Clinic Director, Physical Therapist

Kevin is a 1990 graduate of the University of Utah Physical Therapy program and completed his doctoral training at Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions in Provo, Utah. He also earned his Dry Needling certification through the Spinal Manipulation Institute.

Kevin specializes in orthopedic manual therapy, spinal stabilization training, and sports injury rehabilitation. He is an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association and UAPTA. Kevin has extensive background in sports medicine coverage including semi-professional and high school teams in and around Draper. Well known in the medical and sports communities of Draper and Sandy, Utah, Kevin has lectured to various groups on injury prevention including pre-season conditioning and flexibility programs. He has a passion for treating the elderly community, and has a very kind and considerate appreciation for all of his patients.

When he’s not treating patients, Kevin enjoys cycling, hiking, and spending time with his wife and French Bulldog, Harley.


Patrick Porter physical therapist

Patrick Porter, PT, DPT, OCS

Physical Therapist, Board Certified Orthopedic Specialist

Patrick Porter earned his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Saint Louis University in 2014 and graduated from Saint Louis University-SSM Health Physical Therapy Orthopedic Residency in 2016. He is also a Board Certified Orthopedic Specialist.

Specializing in general orthopedics, Patrick has additional experience in vestibular and concussion rehabilitation, work conditioning and WorkSTEPS training for Worker’s Compensation. Patrick uses his expertise in movement analysis to create a plan-of-care focused on manual therapy and correction of movement impairments. He is passionate about helping his patients return to the activities they enjoy and live pain free.

Patrick enjoys playing ultimate frisbee, basketball, frisbee with his dogs, home remodeling, and watching college basketball and the NBA. He is also excited to go skiing since moving to Utah from the Midwest.

Mindy Butterfield, PTA

Physical Therapist Assistant

Mindy graduated from Salt Lake Community College as a Physical Therapist Assistant in 2009 and has been practicing ever since. She went on to earn her Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from the University of Utah in 2020.

Mindy specializes in outpatient orthopedics. She strives to make each patient feel comfortable and important while she treats his or her specific and individual needs. Mindy is passionate about helping others heal and feel better while witnessing them get back to doing what they love.

When not in the clinic, Mindy enjoys spending time outside and spending time playing with her kids.
