Meet: Grays Harbor Health and Rehab
One of the many wonderful Washington teams
Our Grays Harbor Health and Rehab team in Aberdeen, Washington celebrated those who have survived cancer and remembered those they have lost to cancer by walking in the Relay for Life earlier this month.
This is their second year fundraising as a team. Last year the team raised $2005 and this year their goal was $3,000. They well exceeded this goal and ended up raising $4,607 towards finding the cure for cancer! The team and their team captain, Nichole Robertson, worked very hard to accomplish this. A total of 39 staff members participated in fundraising from January to May to reach their goal. Four members of the team were cancer survivors, including Roberta Treviranus, PTA. They also had one 24 hour walker, Colleen Higgins, Avalon Activities Director, who walked the entire time.
To raise the money they did multiple fundraisers including a Penny Drive, Mocha Tuesdays, Car Washes, Bunco Night, Silent Auction Spaghetti Feed, Easter Basket Raffle, personal donations, and wheelchair laps at the RFL event. Nichole Robertson juggled fundraising efforts with her normal duties and donated hours of her own time to ensure the team was a success.
Grays Harbor County has one of the largest relay for life events in the USA for their per capita population. The team’s money contributed to the impressive $313,000 total raised by the Grays Harbor Community this year. Grays Harbor Health and Rehab was also recently recognized for being apart of the Healthy Living Challenge (one of twelve local companies) as a business who promotes healthy living to their staff.
We are so proud of the Grays Harbor team and all they’ve accomplished! We know we can only expect more great things to come from them in the future. Thanks for all you do!
