Meet Natalie Caldwell
[RTL at the Salt Lake Veteran’s Home]
Where are you from?
I was born and raised in Pocatello, Idaho and have lived in Logan, UT, Southern Spain, Vancouver, WA, and Salt Lake City since then.
How long have you been with Brighton?
I have been with Brighton for over 4 years.
Why did you go into therapy?
I originally went into Speech Therapy because I wanted to work with kids with language disorders, but I did an externship in an adult rehab setting in grad school and fell in love with the skilled nursing and rehab setting, the adult population, and have been doing that for my entire career!! I am very lucky to be working at the Veterans Home and VA Hospital here in Salt Lake and I love it!
What are some of your favorite things to do?
I love fun in general, I feel like in general we take ourselves too seriously. I really love backpacking, running races, most outdoor games and sports-I am a very mediocre athlete, but I sure do love playing them for fun and I am way better than mediocre at being goofy and ridiculous. I also love all things music and dancing and in the grand tradition of speech therapists, I do enjoy fashion and dressing nicely when I can.
What are some of your favorite books, movies, and TV shows?
Some of my favorite books include: The Book Thief, Ender’s Shadow, My Name is Asher Lev, all Jane Austen novels, Running with the Buffaloes, The Perfect Mile, and many other stories of runners/athletes, their experiences and training methods. As for TV, When I get a chance I enjoy watching What Not To Wear re-runs and So You Think You Can Dance.
What is your favorite food?
I have simple tastes in food and am easily pleased-I love Moochie’s here in SLC and recently discovered an incredible Vietnamese sandwich shop that is at the top of my list, and I always love anything pizza, mint chocolate or ice cream related.
